In the early morning of 12th August 2009, Secretary General suffered a major heart attack. He was admitted in Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi immediately. In order to save his life, the Doctors had done two angioplasties on him on emergency basis consecutively on 12th and 13th August 2009.
Immediately on receipt of the information, Comrade A.K.Mehta, Vice President and Comrade Mrs. Kalpana Datta, Convener, Women committee had rushed to the hospital. Comrade M.B.Sing, ASG had also reached hospital immediately.
Comrade K. K. Verma, Finance Secretary, Co-ordination Committee, Central Government Employees and Workers', Delhi state and few more comrades also reached hospital immediately.
Few thousands phone calls in the meantime, from different parts of the country were received by the family members and all other leaders of Central headquarter who had been there in the hospital.
Apart from leaders of Civil Accounts Organization, leaders from different organizations visited the hospital during the period between 12th and 15th August 2009. Prominent among them are - Com. D. C. Chauhan, D. K. Arora, K. C. Sharma from NFPE, Com. C. C. Pillai, Working Chairman, Confederation of Central Government Employees and Workers, Com. Giriraj Singh, President, Com. A. K. Kanajia, Working President, Com. V. S. Negi, Addl. General Secretary, Co-ordination Committee of Central Government Employees and Workers', Delhi State and Com. K.K.N. Kutty, Secretary General, Confederation of Central Government Employees and Workers.
Representing the Civil Accounts Authority, Shri Anthony Lianzuala, Jt. CGA accompanied by Shri Prem Ballav, Sr. AO(O/o CGA), Shri R. K. Gupta, Sr. A.O., PAO, RML Hospital, New Delhi visited the ailing Secretary General in the Hospital on 14th August 2009. He wished him speedy recovery and assured all sorts of help from the authority.
Com. L. K. Salve, President, AICAEA conveyed thanks to the authority on behalf of the members through a letter addressed to CGA.
Secretary General was hospitalized once again on 26th August 2009 on emergency basis. He was discharged after another angiography and few hours of treatment.
Com. S. Bahdyopadhyay, Finance Secretary was also hospitalized with effect from 11th to 24th August 2009 on suspected Pneumonia. He was having high fever and other complications. He is now recovering slowly.

Bhattacharjee, Secretary General of A.I.C.A.E.A and N.F.C.A.A. while he was in a critical condition due to a major heart attack he had faced in the early morning on 12th August 2009 and struggling for his life in Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi. Shri Anthony Lianzuala, Joint Controller General of Accounts along with Shri Prem Ballav, Sr. AO and Shri R.K.Gupta, PAO, RML Hospital, New Delhi visited Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on 14th August to enquire about the health condition of Shri Bhattacharjee and wished his speedy recovery. It is a rare gesture of your stature and your administration to spend the valuable time to visit an ailing Association representative and it has thus relieved the stress of everybody who loves Shri V. Bhattacharjee.
We are also thankful to Shri Chandey Andrews, CCA, CBEC, Smti. Deepika Jain, CA, CBEC and all the staff and the officers of O/O CCA,CBEC, New Delhi who have responded to the requests of the representatives of the Association instantly and accorded utmost priority to ensure release of medical advance for the treatment to save the life of Shri Bhattacharjee .
